Hello Esmond Station Iron Horses!  I grew up in Valley Center, KS which is a small town right outside of Wichita.  Most of my family still lives there and I try to go back and visit often. I graduated from Emporia State University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and completed my Master’s Degree in Reading from Grand Canyon University in December 2016.  I met my husband, who is from Arizona, while he was at Emporia State University on a Baseball Scholarship. After our graduation from ESU, we moved to Tucson. My first year of teaching was in Nogales, AZ in 2001. I taught 2nd grade and quickly learned this was the grade for me! From there, my husband and I moved to Whiteriver, AZ and taught for 3 years on the Apache Reservation.  While we loved our experience there, it was time to move closer to family. We both accepted teaching positions with Vail in the Summer of 2005. In my 17 years of teaching, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades as well as serving as a Reading Specialist. We have a son who is 14, a daughter who is 11, and an adorable sock loving puppy named Bella.

Teaching 2nd grade is a passion of mine!  I love watching students learn and grow as they accomplish goals they have set for themselves.  I believe in teaching fun and purposeful lessons that will not only help in future grades but also in life.  Working with families and fellow educators is essential in making sure I am able to do what is best for my students. I am excited to be a part of your child’s journey!
