Hello! My name is Susie Oslund and I was born and raised in beautiful San Diego, California. My mother was a kindergarten teacher and my father was an investigator for the DEA and U.S. Customs. After high school, I played volleyball for San Diego Mesa College for two years and then transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I met and married my husband. We have been married for 18 wonderful years. We moved to Southern Arizona 15 years ago for my husband’s career as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense at Ft. Huachuca. We have 2 daughters–a soon-to-be sophomore at Empire High School and a soon-to-be 7th grader here at Esmond Station. I love to read, listen to music, and spend time with family at the beach and Disneyland!
This upcoming year will be my 8th year in elementary education, spending several rewarding years supporting Title 1 students in reading for grades K-6 at Pueblo del Sol Elementary in Sierra Vista. For the last 3 years, I have loved teaching 1st grade at Esmond Station. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade with an amazing team! In addition to teaching at Esmond Station, I was the volleyball coach for the boys middle school championship team (SY 2018-2019) and for the girls middle school team (SY 2019-2020). I currently co-facilitate the Esmond Station Heritage Gardening Club (grades 4-8) with Ms. Kari Matthias. I believe the classroom environment should be fun and engaging, spark curiosity, and promote a love of lifelong learning. I love to build lasting relationships with students and their families through positive collaboration, respect, and communication. I love being part of the Esmond Station family!
