Melissa Dwyer

Hello families! I am extremely excited to be starting my first year here at Esmond Station! This will be my sixth year teaching. I spent one-year teaching fifth grade and four years teaching second.  I absolutely love what I do! My classroom goals are to meet the different learning needs of all my students, for my students to feel supported, and for my students to know that my classroom is a safe space to take risks.

I graduated from the University of Colorado with a history degree. After moving with my husband to Oklahoma, I started working on my master’s degree in education while subbing for the school district. It was during this time, that I fully realized my love of teaching and working with children. I completed my master’s degree from the University of Phoenix and immediately started teaching in my own classroom. Since my husband is in the Air Force, we have had the opportunity to move around and experience new places. I have taught at some great schools, but I am overjoyed to now be at Esmond Station! While I have spent most of my career in elementary, I am looking forward to teaching middle school!  My husband and I moved to Vail in January from Virginia. We have three wonderful children who attend Esmond Station.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, baking, hiking and taking our dog, Jamison, out for walks.
