My name is Marjorie McGinnis (Margy). I am the Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) that provides OT services to students at Esmond Station. I genuinely love my job and working with children; they bring great joy to my day. I love helping students improve their skills to meet their academic goals. It is an honor and pleasure to work in the Vail School District, along with the exceptional teachers and staff at Esmond Station.
I was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and moved to Tucson when I was in high school. My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married going on 40 years. We have five beautiful children who live in Denver, Hawaii, San Diego, Minnesota, and here in Tucson and are blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren.
I spent sixteen years raising our children and then returned to school to become an occupational therapy assistant. I graduated from Brown Mackie College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational Therapy in December of 2010. I hold a National Certification with the National Board of Occupational Therapists and am a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. I was hired by the Vail School District upon my graduation in January of 2011 and worked in the Vail School District until May of 2015.
In 2015 I felt called to expand my skill set in the area of feeding, and I was hired at Mealtime Connections, LLC. I gained and learned a whole new set of skills from exceptional therapists there from 2015 to 2017. In Jan 2018, the opportunity to return to school-based therapy was presented and I decided to return to the Vail School District. I am thrilled to be back.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family, working on craft projects, sewing, and watching Marvel movies. I look forward to another exciting new school year and can’t wait to get started.
