Kelly Wellman

Hello Esmond Station Iron Horses! My name is Kelly Wellman and I am a proud fifth-generation Tucsonan. From the time I was little, I knew that working with children was my passion. Therefore, I pursued and received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language Endorsement from the University of Arizona in May of 2013. Then, I obtained my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development and a Reading Specialist Certificate from Northern Arizona University in December of 2017. This year will be my eighth year of teaching in the Vail School District. I taught four years in second grade and this will be my fourth year teaching first grade. My passion for teaching continues to grow and blossom because of the wonderful children and families I am blessed to work with every day!

My husband and I just got married on May 9th, 2020. We have an amazing four-legged Beagle named Marley. She loves to play and eat snap peas and carrots! I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends and love sporting activities, traveling and spending time outside. I have traveled to 12 countries and have traveled to many states and cities in the United States. I also enjoy boating, camping, ATV riding, horseback riding, reading, listening to country music, country swing dancing, and relaxing by the pool, at the lake or by the ocean!

I strive to be the teacher every child wants to have, as well as, the teacher that every parent wants for their child! Within my classroom, I provide a safe nurturing environment where students feel challenged and supported in their academic growth. My students will know that each one of them is special to me and that I will be there to help them along their academic journey. My goal is to make each day fun and interesting with exciting lessons and activities. I want to instill a love of learning in your child that will last a lifetime. Teaching children is my passion, and I am looking forward to being a part of your child’s life and working alongside each of you!
