What an amazing adventure teaching has turned out to be! This will be my tenth year as an elementary school educator and I just have to say, there is NEVER a dull moment. I love working with children, learning with them and from them every single day. If I won a million dollars, I would still be a teacher. For me, teaching is LIFE!
A Little About Me: I grew up in the vast country of Canada- enjoying the Pacific Ocean, Rocky Mountains, and all things Canadian. I moved to Tucson 20 years ago and fell in love with the Sonoran desert. During this time, I earned an associate’s degree from Pima Community College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona South, and a Masters’s degree from Grand Canyon University. NOw I have two amazing teenage sons that play a whole lot of basketball, and two fabulous teenage daughters that love the arts. I’ve been lucky enough to teach my own children in their third, fourth, and fifth-grade years, and no, they did not have to call me Mrs. Benson. “Mom” was A-okay (because eventually, ALL my scholars call me “mom” by accident anyway! Lol!) I always think of my students as family, and every class I teach is the “best” class ever! 😉
Being at Esmond Station has been, by far, the greatest experience of my teaching career! The staff, the faculty, the families, and the scholars are simply incredible. I am overwhelmed by the kindness and support everyone has for each other. The students work hard to please their teachers and put their best effort in everything they do. Without a doubt, I plan to continue my role as a middle school ELA teacher here for many years to come!
