Hi Guys! My name is Kari Matthias and I am your 6th-grade math and/or social studies teacher! I look forward to working with you and your family! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I have been teaching at Esmond Station for 3 years and love being an Iron Horse! I grew up in Houston, Texas and moved to Vail, Arizona when I was 13. I went to Old Vail Middle School and Cienega High School! In high school I was in the Copper Thunder Marching Band, Science Olympiad, track and played some volleyball! After I graduated from Cienega I went to The University of Arizona for a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, 1st-8th grade. GO WILDCATS! I now enjoy being outside, hiking, yoga and still play some volleyball. One different thing about me is I think insects are very interesting and know we can learn so much from them! I have co-run the student council and love seeing the school come together. I currently co-facilitate the Esmond Station Heritage Gardening Club with Mrs. Oslund. Esmond Station has so much cool history!
Building lasting relationships with all of the families that I work with is super important to me. Esmond Station is such an amazing place and I love being a part of the Iron Horse Family!
