Hello Families! This is my 21st year of teaching and I am so grateful for all of the students and families that have touched my life. I was born in Syracuse, New York and I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I moved to Tucson and went to the University of Arizona for my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, where I graduated in 1998. It was then that I began my lifelong dream of teaching. In 2005, I went back to school and received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from NAU. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade, as well as a Student Achievement Teacher for eight years, where I would monitor our school’s data and mentor new teachers in our school district.

My ultimate goal as an educator is to create a safe and nurturing learning environment, where each child feels loved, encouraged, and academically challenged. A quote I love to live by in the classroom is written by Harry Potter, “Working hard is important. but there is something that matters even more: Believing in yourself.” Each child has a gift and I believe in helping students reach their fullest potential each and every day. I believe that every child has the ability to achieve their dreams and I look forward to creating a family environment by providing opportunities in the classroom where students can academically excel and each child’s diverse needs are met. I believe in treating each student and family with respect and strive to build lasting relationships with each and every one of them. I have high academic expectations for all of my students. I enjoy creating and implementing a variety of hands-on lessons that get my students actively involved in their own learning. I have an open-door policy in my classroom, where parents are always welcomed.

Teaching is my passion and it is so magical to watch my students’ faces light up when they learn something new! My goal is to make each day of learning fun so students can achieve academic excellence and acquire the knowledge they need to succeed not only in my classroom but in the classroom of life. I strive to inspire my students to develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime!

Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family, enjoying the outdoors, trying new restaurants, and traveling. I am married to a wonderful husband and am a proud mom of my daughter, Danielle, who is finishing up her freshman year at the University of Arizona. I have two fur babies, named Jack and Gracie, who love to snuggle.

I am so happy to be a part of the Esmond family and look forward to learning more about you and your child! It’s going to be a fantastic school year!!
